You are reading the consumer terms.
They apply to whoever contracts outside a trade or business — almost everyone who writes here. Read the professional agreement
1. Acceptance & who we are
Telos is a professional screenwriting tool operated by Oger Sepol Produção e Comércio Audiovisual Ltda., a company incorporated in Brazil under registration (CNPJ) no. 07.567.854/0001-01, with establishment at R. Saint-Hilaire, 380, apto. 102 — Água Verde — Curitiba/PR — CEP 80.240-140 — Brasil (“Telos”, “we”). By creating an account or using the service, you accept these Terms. Notices under these Terms may be sent to that address or to suporte@telos.guru.
These Terms apply where the account holder contracts outside a trade or business. Where the account holder contracts in the name of a legal entity, the professional agreement applies.
2. The service
Telos helps you develop, structure, write, analyze and export screenplays — for feature, series, short and vertical formats — with AI-assisted generation and diagnostics, version branching, and forensic process records. Features are delivered on a pay-per-use credit basis (§4). We may add, change or retire features over time.
We may change or retire features for a valid reason — a legal or security requirement, a change or discontinuation of a third-party service the feature depends on, or the technical or economic unfeasibility of maintaining it — at no additional cost to you. Any change that impairs access or use will be notified by email with reasonable advance notice, stating its scope and the date it takes effect. Where the impairment is not minor, you may terminate the contract at no cost within 30 days of the notice or of the change, whichever is later.
Telos runs in a current version of a desktop browser with JavaScript enabled and requires a continuous internet connection; there is no offline mode. Screenplays are imported from and exported to .fdx, Fountain, PDF, .txt and HTML.
3. Eligibility & account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Telos is not directed to children; we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (US, COPPA) or under the applicable age of digital consent in the EU.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details and for keeping your credentials secure. Your email is your login; account activity is your responsibility.
- You may authorize collaborators; you remain responsible for what they do under your project.
4. Subscription & credits
Telos runs on one monthly subscription, with extra credit for subscribers when a month runs heavier — no feature tiers. Every AI action you trigger shows its cost before it runs. A few upkeep routines run on their own after you save — keeping a character-agent’s memory in step with what you just wrote, for instance — and those consume credits without a prompt, because there is no click to attach one to. Every charge, triggered or automatic, is itemised in /conta/creditos. Prices are in US dollars because operating costs are in dollars; this removes currency risk. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card data. Monthly subscription credits reset each cycle and do not roll over; extra credit packs do not expire, and can only be bought by someone with an active subscription. Manage your plan at /conta/creditos.
We may limit or suspend access where credit consumption is inconsistent with human use of the tool, where unauthorised automated use, indications of fraud or unauthorised account access exist, and while a payment dispute is pending with the payment provider. Suspension is limited to what is necessary to investigate, and access is restored once regularity is verified; where a payment dispute exists, restoration is conditional on its resolution or on payment. Credits granted against a payment later charged back, disputed or not settled are cancelled as to the remaining balance, and the amount consumed before the chargeback remains due. We notify the account holder of the reason for suspension at the registered email.
5. Your content is yours
- Everything you write in Telos — projects, characters, scenes, authorial voice — is yours and stays yours. You keep all copyright and intellectual-property rights.
- For material generated by AI inside Telos, we attribute ownership of the output to you, subject to the copyright law applicable in your country (in many jurisdictions, purely AI-generated output is not protectable, but the work you derive and edit is yours).
- We do not use your content to train our models, and we do not pass it to third parties to train theirs. Our AI provider is contractually bound not to train its models on content sent through its API, and deletes that content within 30 days under its published retention policy. Details in the Privacy Policy.
6. AI-generated content & disclosure on publication
Telos is a writing assistant. It does not claim authorship of anything you produce. AI output is generated on your request, and you are responsible for how you use it. We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, original, non-infringing, or registrable (see §10).
AI output may contain factual assertions that are false, incomplete, misleading or out of date. You must independently verify the factual assertions in the output before using or disclosing it, and may not rely on them without that verification. The same obligation extends to any collaborators you authorise.
The authorship status of the output may be uncertain, and the use of generative tools may affect your ability to obtain or enforce intellectual-property rights in the resulting material, including refusal, limitation or a required disclaimer on registration before the competent office. We do not warrant registration, protection or the success of any claim over the work. Assessing that risk and deciding to use the output are yours.
Disclosure is your responsibility. Some markets and bodies (the US Copyright Office, the EU AI Act, festivals such as Cannes, the WGA) require works with material AI use to be disclosed as such. When you submit a screenplay for registration, a festival, a grant or production, it is your responsibility to meet the applicable disclosure rules — only you know how much of the work is human refinement versus pure AI generation.
Machine-readable marking in your exports. When a project has had AI generation, every screenplay file you export carries a marking in that format’s own metadata slot — the Fountain title page, the FDX script notes, the PDF document properties, the HTML head, and a ai-disclosure.json sidecar inside ZIP packages. Ancillary documents (coverage, pitch materials, the series bible, production paperwork) are not marked yet. This addresses the transparency duty of Article 50(2) of the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). It does not change a line of your screenplay, and a project written entirely by hand is exported with no marking at all. A visible statement on the title page is also available, for when a festival or a buyer requires the disclosure to be printed on the material: turn it on in the export panel, or in the PDF dialog in the editor. The option only appears when the project has in fact had AI generation.
Auxiliary proof of process. Telos automatically records the lineage of each scene (how much was AI-generated, reformulated, or human composition) and offers a forensic export (PDF/A + optional RFC 3161 timestamp) you can use as evidence of your creative process — see /provenance. This is auxiliary evidence, not legal advice, and does not guarantee any registration or outcome.
Cooperation in an IP dispute. If a third party questions authorship of your material, we will provide your full version history, your forensic process export, and reasonable technical cooperation with your lawyers within 30 days. We do not assume responsibility for the dispute itself — you are the author and are responsible for your work; the legal defense is yours.
7. Licenses — narrow, both ways
- We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Telos for your own screenwriting, for as long as these Terms are in force.
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to your content only to: (a) store and display it to you and collaborators you authorize; (b) process it through AI when you request it; and (c) create encrypted backups. Nothing beyond that.
- You must not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or build a competing service from Telos, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Telos to: break the law; infringe others' rights; upload malware; abuse, overload or probe the infrastructure; resell or sublicense access; generate content that is unlawful; or generate content prohibited by the acceptable use policy of the AI provider Telos calls, published at anthropic.com/legal/aup. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do (§14).
You represent that you do not access Telos from a country or territory under comprehensive embargo, and that you are not on any restrictive sanctions list applicable to the service or its providers.
Anyone may report unlawful content on Telos by writing to suporte@telos.guru, identifying the material and the reason for the alleged unlawfulness. Upon such a report, or upon a breach of this section, we may remove or disable the specific content, without prejudice to suspension or termination of the account. We do not run automated scanning or monitoring of project content: restrictions under this section are decided case by case, by human review. We notify the account holder of the restriction, its reason and the contractual ground invoked, and it may be reconsidered at the same address. In appropriate circumstances, we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers of third-party copyright.
9. Availability
We pursue 99% monthly availability. This is a target, not a warranty. It does not cover outages of third-party providers, force majeure or scheduled maintenance.
10. Warranties
The service is supplied in conformity with its description in these Terms and on the site. The statutory guarantees applicable to the account holder remain in full. To the maximum extent permitted by law, no further warranty is given; in particular, AI output is not warranted to be accurate, original, non-infringing or protectable by copyright, which is inherent to the technology and not a limitation imposed by these Terms.
11. Limitation of liability
Liability is governed by the applicable law, and no contractual cap is stipulated. Telos is not liable for damage arising from causes outside its control, including outages of third-party providers and force majeure. The account holder is responsible for keeping copies of their own work, which may be exported at any time from /conta/dados.
12. Responsibility for your content
The account holder is responsible for the content they create and for the use they make of the output, under the applicable law.
13. Disputes & governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
The choice of law above does not deprive the account holder of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country of habitual residence, which apply where they afford greater protection.
14. Term, cancellation & termination
The account holder may cancel the subscription at any time at /conta/creditos, with effect at the end of the paid cycle. Extra credit packs already purchased remain available.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately for breach of these Terms, non-payment or legal risk, and may terminate the subscription without cause with effect at the end of the paid cycle.
The account may be deleted at /conta/dados. On termination for any cause, content remains exportable at /conta/dados for 30 days and is then permanently deleted. Provisions which by their nature survive termination continue to apply, in particular ownership of content, limitation of liability and dispute resolution.
14-bis. Right of withdrawal
Cancellation under §14 stops the next charge. Withdrawal rescinds the contract and refunds the amount paid.
- Period: 14 days from the payment, in every country in which the service is offered. This meets art. 9 of Directive 2011/83/EU, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and art. 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Code, whose minimum is seven days.
- No reason required.
- Refund of the amount paid, irrespective of credits consumed, save where consumption exceeds 60% of the credits supplied under the contract, in which case the unconsumed portion is refunded under art. 14(3) of the Directive. The amount is displayed before confirmation.
- How to exercise it. At /conta/creditos, or by an unequivocal statement sent to suporte@telos.guru. The model withdrawal form set out in Annex I(B) of the Directive, whose use is optional, is the following: «To: Telos — suporte@telos.guru. I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the supply of the following service, concluded on ____; name of consumer ____; address of consumer ____; account e-mail ____; signature, only if sent on paper ____; date ____.»
- After each purchase we send to the registered e-mail the confirmation of the order, the version of the Terms accepted and this form, in a form that allows storage and reproduction.
- The subscription terminates upon acceptance and the refund is processed to the original payment method within 14 days of our being informed, under art. 13(1) of the Directive.
Repeated exercise of this right by the same account holder in successive contracts may be assessed as abuse of right.
15. Privacy & your rights
How we handle your data — legal bases, sub-processors, international transfers, retention and your rights under LGPD (Brazil), the CCPA/CPRA and other US state laws, and the GDPR — is described in the Privacy Policy. In short: we do not sell or share your personal information; we honor the Global Privacy Control signal; US-state, EU and Brazilian residents can exercise their rights via privacidade@telos.guru.
16. Changes & general
We may update these Terms; we will post the new version with its date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Telos on this subject. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
